The Twins look to even the series against one of the Angels' top pitchers tonight.

Know Thine Enemy: Halos Heaven

The Twins have a tough draw tonight against the Angels. While Los Angeles sports a rotation that includes high-priced pitchers Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson, it's been Garrett Richards that has been the ace this season. With a blazing fastball that regularly can hit the high-90s, he is having a breakout season after bouncing between the rotation and bullpen, along with the majors and minors over the past three years. He's always had that fastball, but in the past he was lacking strikeouts and walking a ton of hitters. Now those stats have started to trend in the positive direction, and mixing in a refusal to allow hits and home runs has turned him into a top tier pitcher this year.

Facing him is Yohan Pino, who is making his second career start despite being four years older than Richards. Pino had an excellent debut last week against the White Sox, allowing only 2 runs over 7 innings while striking out 7 and walking only a single batter. Of concern is that only 4 of his 18 balls in play were grounders, meaning that he'll need pinpoint control - or more reliance on the low pitches - to avoid giving up a gopher ball or two to the Halos.
