In what can only be described as one of the most obvious picks by the Twins in recent memory, Minnesota took Nick Gordon with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 draft just three weeks ago. Gordon expressed an interest in signing quickly, "because I'm ready to play."
And that's happened. The Twins and Gordon quickly agreed on a slot-value bonus of $3,851,000. Just two weeks after the draft he was in uniform for the Elizabethton Twins, and he now has six games under his belt as a professional baseball player. How's our first-rounder done so far?
Player | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | SO | SB | CS | AVG | OBP | SLG |
Nick Gordon | 6 | 26 | 5 | 7 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0 | .269 | .310 | .423 |
It was yesterday that Gordon hit his first home run as a pro.
We'll continue to track some of the 2014 draft picks throughout the summer, and of course we'll be keeping one eye keenly trained on this guy. If you have the chance to see him in person, be sure to post your photos and impressions in the FanPost section.
