Pre-Game Notes

  • The Twins will have Byron Buxton in Fort Myers, where they will monitor his progress carefully.
  • Remember Anthony Slama? He's signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. Playing as a reliever in the Independent League since being released by the Twins in June of last year, Slama had made 30 relief appearances with a 2.36 ERA in 34.1 innings. True to form it's been command (20 walks) that has kept him from being outright dominant, but with just 21 hits allowed (one homer) he's still got something in the tank. Good luck, Slama.
  • The Twins have an opportunity to frustrate teams who are potentially playoff-bound, and this is one of those chances. With the Royals in first place, the Tigers are now on the outside and looking in: the Angels and the Mariners currently own the two Wild Card positions. But with Detroit playing Seattle, the Minnesota and Kansas City series is worth watching.
