Royals 2, Twins 1: Nolasco actually throws a great game, Perkins blows it

After looking awful in his last couple starts, Ricky Nolasco turned it around tonight and had his best start ever as a Twin. Nolasco gave up only three hits over seven scoreless innings and looked to be in line for his first win since June 4th. Unfortunately, Glen Perkins COMPLETELY BLEW IT and the Twins lost instead.

The first six innings or tonight's game moved pretty swiftly, thanks to Nolasco's and Royals starter Danny Duffy's strong outings. Scoring didn't get started until the top of the seventh. Brian Dozier led off the inning with a double, and was driven in on a beautiful Joe Mauer single to put the Twins up 1-0.

The score remained 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, with All-Star closer Glen Perkins coming in to get the save for the Twins. Except he didn't get the save. Instead, he gave up a single to Alcides Escobar, then in the next at bat, a walk-off home run to Alex Gordon for the loss. The whole shebang took four pitches.

At least it was the Royals, and not some other more annoying team. Sigh.
