Let's win one today.

Pre-Game Notes

  • Ricky Nolasco is coming off of his best start of the year, throwing seven shutout innings. Boy wouldn't it be swell to see him actually pitch like he's capable of pitching down the stretch, instead of being generally awful?
  • Alex Meyer was pulled after two batters in the second inning yesterday, his last start of the season for Rochester. Apparently he had trouble getting loose and the fastball velocity wasn't in the mid to upper 90s, as per usual. He's hitting the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.
  • As a result, Jose Berrios has been promoted to Triple-A Rochester and will make his debut there tonight.
  • The Twins still have two open spots on the 40-man roster after adding and recalling Aaron Thompson yesterday, and with rosters expanding tomorrow it will be interesting to see if the Twins add a player or two in order to give them an opportunity to look at a player over the season's final few weeks. I have to be honest: the pickings for roster expansion this year aren't that exciting, outside of perhaps Alex Meyer, Josmil Pinto, and maybe Jorge Polanco. I do like Michael Tonkin, though.

No lineups yet, but the game is underway in a little more than two hours.
