Nationals claim Pedro Florimon off waivers

The Twins' P-Flo era just couldn't last forever.

I'm just going to assume Florimon didn't hit this one.

Twins shortstop Pedro Florimon was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon. Florimon had been the Twins Opening Day shortstop this year, but was sent down to AAA Rochester after struggling offensively. He went 7 for 76 (.092) with 22 strikeouts in his 33 games this year in the major leagues. Florimon was not one of the Twins' September call-ups.

Pedro is, unsurprisingly, known more for his great defense, which the Nationals reportedly think very highly of. Florimon is not eligible to participate in the playoffs for the Nats, and was likely acquired to add minor league depth to the organization.

So long, P-Flo.
