Phil Hughes pitched 8 innings, allowing just two runs, both solo dongs. And that was all it took to send him to 0-4 on the season.
Felix Hernandez, who said after the game that he felt he had "perfect game stuff," wasn't that remarkable, but he was still pretty damn good, shutting out the Twins 2-0. Per MLB.com, it was Hernandez's first shutout since 2012, also against, you guessed it, the Minnesota Twins. He surrendered five hits, walked not one person, and struck out nine.
Nelson Cruz and Logan Morrison were the two dong-whackers for Seattle in an otherwise excellent start for Hughes, who only allowed six hits in eight innings of work. Silver lining: Plenty of rest for your bullpen now.
