So how about those Twins, huh? The winning feeling has returned to Minnesota, and after a rather painful end to the hockey season, it's very nice to experience. The Twins have gone 6-4 in their last 10 games, and are now a respectable 3rd in the AL Central division, 3 games back of Kansas City, and just one game back of the Detroit Tigers (pending the outcome of Wednesday's games). That's pretty darn impressive for a team that had as rough a start as Minnesota did. Managing? Player improvements? Whatever the cause, let's all enjoy it...
-LENIII has a piece this week about Ervin Santana and his "second Spring Training", as he's starting to build up for his return after the All Star break. The good news, per Rob Antony - it appears Santana has remained in good shape during his suspension.
-Gleeman discussed on Wednesday the move the Twins made to demote Kennys Vargas back to triple-A and questions the timing of it all. He also makes the very valid point about the current DH situation being less than ideal. Unless Oswaldo Arcia is almost ready to be back in the lineup, this does seem like rather strange timing to send Vargas down.
-Just a reminder of how quickly the standings in the AL Central can change due to the number of games each teams plays within their divisions...
-Thanks to all the winning, it feels less terrible to vote all Twins players into the All Star Game, so get to voting!
-Ending with some good news this week -- Casey Fien is set to start a rehab stint in Rochester soon, as he was able to throw off the mound without any issues at Target Field on Wednesday. Hooray!
The Twins have an off day today, and start up another series with the Chicago White Sox tomorrow night. The probable starter for Minnesota will be Phil Hughes - Chicago is still a question mark as to who they'll have on the mound as of now. Game time is 7:10 pm CST, and you can catch all the updates and game information here during the day!
