Really, I just wanted an excuse to link to Kennys Vargas' walk-off dinger against the Best Fans in Baseball's team. Let's watch it again:
- Despite their recent slide, the Twins are still in the playoffs if the season were to end today. Who would they play in the wild card game? You know the answer, don't you?
- Ervin Santana makes his first "rehab" start in Rochester this weekend, and he spoke with the upstate NY media about it. Nickel version: A combo platter of Mark McGwire's "I'm not here to talk about the past" testimony and Rick Spielman's "Mistakes were made, gonna get it right." Your mileage may vary.
- You may have missed it in the aftermath of yesterday's celebration, but the Twins released Jordan Schafer, who was made superfluous by Byron Buxton. As the Hardball Talk link notes, his spot on the 40-man will likely be needed for the aforementioned Santana in a couple weeks.
- If you'd like more optimism, you're aware that nobody can get Max Kepler out right now, right? Read more from area gentleman Parker Hageman.
