This week we go into the Minnesota Twins minor league organization to find the shining talent that we name the Minor League Stars of the Week. Read on to see who we have named for this week's stars and take a moment to answer the poll and comment on any other players you feel that should have been named.
- Cedar Rapids (A - Low) - Felix Jorge (P) - Our star for the Kernels this week is Felix Jorge, starting pitcher for Cedar Rapids. Jorge continues to impress at the Low A level in 2015 and looks to be one of the next pitching prospects to move from Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers. Jorge continues to lead the Kernels in innings pitched and has also put up solid numbers across the board. Felix is 3-3 in 2015 with a 2.44 ERA along with posting a 0.90 WHIP and a .195 batting average against. Jorge continues to show excellent command as indicated by his 57 SO/13 BB ratio. The future continues to shine for Felix Jorge in Low A and beyond.
- Fort Myers (A - High) - Todd Van Steensel (P) - This week's star from the Fort Myers Miracle is Todd Van Steensel, relief pitcher for the Miracle. Van Steensel has continued to be a dominant force from the Miracle bullpen with 8 saves, a 1.79 ERA, and 57 SO/18 BB over 40.1 IP. Todd has been tough on hitters in the Florida State League in 2014 with only allowing a .187 batting average against. The Twins have continued to look to strengthen their bullpen and Van Steensel looks to be a solid prospect in those plans and should be moving to AA in late 2015 or 2016.
- Chattanooga (AA) - Adam Brett Walker (OF) - Our star from the Chattanooga Lookouts this week is Adam Brett Walker, outfielder for the Lookouts. Over his last 10 games, Adam has continued to be a solid run producer while also increasing his batting average substantially. Adam is hitting .316 (12-38) over this stretch with 3 HR, 8 RBI, and 5 R. For the season in 2015, Adam is hitting .270, slugging .585, and has an OPS of .909. Adam has put up power and run production numbers across the board with 17 2B, 2 3B, 19 HR, 59 RBI, and 46 R. With this continued kind of run production, the time is limited for Adam Brett Walker to be a Lookout and would expect to see him in a Red Wings uniform soon.
- Rochester (AAA) - James Beresford (2B) - This week's star from the Rochester Red Wings is James Beresford, second baseman for Rochester. Beresford has had a good stretch over the past 10 games and an even better overall season in 2015. In his last 10 games, James is hitting .302 (13-43) with 8 RBI and 8 R. For 2015, James is hitting .320 with 12 2B, 1 3B, 26 RBI, and 28 R. Beresford has also been an outstanding defensive player in 2015 with only six errors this season. If his performance continues at this level, it will be interesting to see if the Twins have plans on using him as a utility infielder in 2016.
