Pre-Game Notes

  • Aaron Hicks leads off today as Brian Dozier gets a much needed day off. Eduardo Nunez will play and bat second.
  • Torii Hunter takes a seat today as well. Eddie Rosario shifts to right field and Shane Robinson starts in left.
  • This is not the batting order of a team that plans on contending. And as the Twins sit Dozier and Hunter to leave their already thin lineup even thinner, the Angels aren't taking any shortcuts with their team today.
  • For the second time in four starts with the Twins, Ervin Santana faces off against an old team. He spent eight seasons with the Angels, having made 233 of his 299 starts for his original organization.
  • The Twins have a tough test against Garrett Richards today. The 27-year old right-hander is already having a good season, and is coming off of a complete game shutout of the Red Sox.
