Game 98: Yankees at Twins

Can Kyle Gibson lead the Twins to a series win?

Pre-Game Notes

  • As noted in our series preview, Evoldi's fastball velocity sits in the high 90s but he doesn't record a good deal of strikeouts. He can get away with a lack of movement because of that fastball, but he will get hit hard as well. If the Twins can square up today there's no reason they can't chase Evoldi early.
  • It's a Sunday, but Paul Molitor is trotting out his A Team today. One more bat would still do this batting order a lot of good, though.
  • Since the start of June, Gibson has struck out 54 in 56.2 innings (nine starts) with an 11% swinging strike rate. Is he finally reaching the potential he flashed at times in the minor leagues?
