Game 117: Indians at Twins

If Minnesota could win its second season in a row, the doldrums of the second half could start to dissipate.

Pre-Game Notes

  • It's been tough on the Twins since the All-Star break, right? But if they win today, that's two series wins in a row, 4-2 in their last six games, and an illustration Minnesota playing like they need to play at home.
  • Welcome back, Tommy Milone. No pressure but you really need to pitch well today.
  • To make room for Milone, the Twins have optioned Michael Tonkin back to Triple-A Rochester instead of Tyler Duffey. So that's unexpected. Poor Michael. But good for Duffey. That's interesting, because we initially thought Trevor May would be making two spot starts. Now, he could go right back into the bullpen.
  • Torii Hunter is getting the day off, and it's no wonder. Hunter is hitting .167/.222/.343 in his last 30 games. He only has 20 hits since July 1, four hits in August, and none since August 7.
