This week we go into the Minnesota Twins minor league organization to find the shining talent that we name the Minor League Stars of the Week. Read on to see who we have named for this week's stars and take a moment to answer the poll and comment on any other players you feel that should have been named.
- Cedar Rapids Kernels (A - Low) - Felix Jorge (P) - Our star for the Kernels this week is Felix Jorge, starting pitcher for Cedar Rapids. In his past two starts, Jorge is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA along with a 7 SO/3 BB ratio. For the 2015 season at Cedar Rapids, Felix has pitched in 21 games and is 6-6 with a 2.90 ERA. Jorge has worked 133.1 IP and has a solid 106 SO/31 BB ratio to go with a 1.05 WHIP and a .221 batting average allowed.
- Fort Myers Miracle (A - High) - Logan Wade (2B) - This week's star from the Fort Myers Miracle is Logan Wade, second baseman for the Miracle. In his past ten games, Wade is hitting .378 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. For the 2015 season, Wade is hitting .256 with a .292 OBP, .365 SLG, and .657 OPS. Logan has scored 27 runs on the season to go with 18 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, and 30 RBI. He is 2/3 in stolen bases and has played solid defense with 10 errors in the 2015 campaign.
- Chattanooga Lookouts (AA) - David Hurlbut (P) - Our star from the Chattanooga Lookouts this week is David Hurlbut, starting pitcher for the Lookouts. In his past two starts, Hurlbut is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA and a 6 SO/3 BB ratio. For the 2015 season at Chattanooga, David has appeared in 15 games and is 9-6 with a 3.96 ERA. He has thrown two complete games for the Lookouts and has worked 86.1 IP while in Chattanooga. Hurlbut has a 51 SO/30 BB ratio so he needs to work on cutting down the walks which shows in his 1.45 WHIP. His batting average against of .288 also needs to be trimmed down if Hurlbut wants to continue to move upward within the Twins organization.
- Rochester Red Wings (AAA) - Logan Darnell (P) - This week's star from the Rochester Red Wings is Logan Darnell, pitcher for Rochester. In his past two starts, Darnell is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, including a shutout in his last start. He also had a very nice 12 SO/5 BB ratio during those two wins. For the 2015 season, Darnell has appeared in 33 games for the Red Wings and started 5 of those contests. Logan has a 4-1 record with a 3.05 ERA over 65 IP. His 55 SO/24 BB ratio is solid along with a .258 batting average against and a 1.35 WHIP. Darnell is definitely a player to watch as a possible bullpen candidate for the Twins in the near future, especially with recent injuries and performance.
