Blue Jays starting pitcher Marco Estrada might as well just been David Price, because he looked almost as effective against the Twins as Price was yesterday. Okay, okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration. The Twins only got one hit against Price, but today they got two whole hits against Estrada. The sad part is, that feels like a moral victory.
The only run for the Twins came on a two-out, bases loaded sac fly from Torii Hunter. Basically the only thing more pathetic would be a run coming in on a bases-loaded wild pitch.
Twins starter Phil "Moonshot" Hughes did what is becoming his normal thing, giving up two huge moon shots to Josh Donaldson (duh) in the 1st inning and Troy Tulowitzki. Donaldson now has a 22 game hitting streak against the Twins, the longest any single player has against any single team in the majors. The third blue jays run came in the bottom of the 6th inning when both Edwin Encarnacion and Dioner Navarro hit doubles off of Hughes.
Silver linings, silver linings... uhhh... I can come up with a handful:
- The Twins weren't no-hit.
- Joe Mauer made a great defensive play.
- Miguel Sano walked twice.
- New Twin Kevin Jepsen threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th inning.
- The game ended.
