The Twins squandered opportunities, but a three-run 3rd inning turned out to be enough for the win. Ervin Santana manged to pitch 7 innings, giving up only 1 earned run and 1 walk wile racking up 7 strikeouts.

The first couple innings were relatively quiet, until the bottom of the third when the Twins got things cooking. With two outs, Eduardo Escobar walked. Aaron Hicks followed up with a ball hit to center field that looked like it was caught with a leaping catch by Michael Brantley, but the ball popped out of his glove when he hit the ground! Escobar scored and Hicks cruised into third with a triple. Brian Dozier then hit a double to score Hicks, and Mauer followed up with another double to score Dozier, putting the Twins ahead 3-0.

The Indians were able to score one run themselves in the top of the 5th inning thanks to a Yan Gomes double and Jose Ramirez single. However, that's all they would really muster.

The Twins got a chance to tack even more runs on their lead in the bottom of the 7th inning, loading the bases with no outs and Miguel Sano (!!) coming to the plate. Unfortunately, Sano (sit down for this one) struck out. So did Trevor Plouffe. And then Kurt Suzuki popped out. The most amusing part of all this? Jeff "I Had No Idea He Pitched For The Indians Now" Manship was the opposing pitcher.

Santana started to struggle in the top of the 8th inning, giving up two singles to lead-off the inning, so Paul Molitor brought in Kevin Jepsen Glen Perkins. Perkins finished the inning, and Glen Perkins Kevin Jepsen came in for the 9th inning, earning the save.
