Minnesota Twins Minor League Stars of the Week

In this week's article, we take a look at the past week of minor league baseball in the Minnesota Twins organization and name the Minor League Stars of the Week. This will be the final regular season edition of the Minor League Stars of the Week but continue to look for articles from Talking Twins each week covering the minor league affiliates from the playoffs to the Arizona Fall League and beyond.

This week we go into the Minnesota Twins minor league organization to find the shining talent that we name the Minor League Stars of the Week.  Read on to see who we have named for this week's stars and take a moment to answer the poll and comment on any other players you feel that should have been named.

  • Cedar Rapids Kernels (A - Low) - T.J. White (3B) - Our star for the Kernels this week is T.J. White, third baseman for Cedar Rapids.  In his past ten games, White is hitting .412 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 8 R, and 1 SB.  For the 2015 season at Cedar Rapids and Fort Myers, T.J. is hitting .251 with a .336 OBP, .342 SLG, and .678 OPS.  White has scored 49 runs on the season and has 23 2B, 6 3B, 2 HR, and 54 RBI.  He has been solid on the bases with 13 stolen bases on 18 attempts.  His defense does need some work with 25 errors on the season but the second half of 2015 has been a definite improvement for T.J.
  • Fort Myers Miracle (A - High) - Zach Granite (OF) - This week's star from the Fort Myers Miracle is Zach Granite, outfielder for the Miracle.  In his past ten games, Granite is hitting .357 with 1 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R, and 3 SB.  For the 2015 season at Cedar Rapids/Fort Myers, Granite is hitting .266 with a .349 OBP, .328 SLG, and .677 OPS.  Zach has scored 76 runs on the season to go with 15 2B, 5 3B, 1 HR, and 31 RBI.  He has 28 stolen bases in 41 attempts and has played great defense with 4 errors in the 2015 campaign.
  • Chattanooga Lookouts (AA) - Shannon Wilkerson (OF) - Our star from the Chattanooga Lookouts this week is Shannon Wilkerson, outfielder for the Lookouts.  In his past ten games, Wilkerson is hitting .372 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 4 RBI, 9 R, and 3 SB.  For the 2015 season at Chattanooga, Shannon is hitting .292 with a .355 OBP, .378 SLG, and .733 OPS.  Wilkerson has scored 30 runs on the year to go along with 5 2B, 4 3B, 1 HR, and 22 RBI.  Shannon has been above average on the basepaths with 11 stolen bases in 12 attempts.  His defense has been outstanding with only 1 error committed in 2015.
  • Rochester Red Wings (AAA) - Pat Dean (P) - This week's star from the Rochester Red Wings is Pat Dean, pitcher for Rochester.  In his past two starts, Dean is 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA and over 17 IP had a 4 SO/1 BB ratio in those starts.  For the 2015 season at Rochester, Pat has pitched in 27 games and is 12-11 with a 2.82 ERA.  Dean has pitched 179 IP on the season with 5 complete games and 3 shutouts.  His strikeout to walk ratio is a solid 98 SO/36 BB and has made opposing batters work allowing a .254 batting average along with a 1.15 WHIP.
