Game 162: Twins @ White Sox

Serenity now.

Jose Berrios gets one more chance and hopes to end the season on a positive note today.

His main issue has been control; his walks per nine innings pitched this season is 5.4. For context, fangraphs considers 4.0 to be "awful." Compounding the issue, he's giving up a bunch of hits (11.8 H/9), for a walks-and-hits per inning pitched of 1.9. Earned run average isn't always the best stat for judging pitchers, but I think we can agree that 8.61 is pretty bad.

Things have been better in his last two starts (8.2 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 4 K); though he failed to reach 5 innings both times and didn't strike anybody out in his last start. Here's to a good start, La Makina!
