The AL MVP Award winner was announced earlier tonight, and everyone was totally pissed Mookie Betts won Mike Trout won. This shouldn’t really come as a shock to anyone, seeing as Trout already has enough career WAR racked up to be a Hall of Famer, and he’s only 25 freakin’ years old.
As for the Twins, our power-slugging second baseman garnered a few MVP votes himself, but nothing too crazy. He earned one 8th place vote, one 9th place vote, and four 10th place votes, for a total of 9 points. For some perspective, Trout had a total of 356 points.
Dozier Trade rumors?
In addition to a couple BBWAA writers, it sounds like the Dodgers may also be taking note of the Twins’ second baseman. A few sources have reported that the Dodgers reached out to the Twins about a trade, but none of them seem very concrete. MLB Rumors passed along the info, but linked to a source that didn’t actually mention Dozier. There’s also this one tweet by MLB Radio made over a week ago.
.@JimBowden_ESPN: #Dodgers had a discussion with #Twins at the GM Meetings re: Brian Dozier. "I wasn't supposed to leak that out."

Whoops.
It’s possible these rumors are being picked up and exaggerated based on a speculative article published by ESPN yesterday. That article reports that the Dodgers expressed interest in the Tigers’ Ian Kinsler, who has a no-trade clause. The article goes on to note that Brian Dozier could be a possible alternative, but does not say that the Dodgers have actually contacted the Twins about a possible trade. Maybe they did, though. Could be true.
More concrete reports about a possible Dozier trade with the Dodgers, however, have yet to surface.
