Per Mike Berardino, the Twins are interested in Houston’s free agent catcher, Jason Castro.
I'm told #MNTwins have expressed preliminary interest in free agent catcher Jason Castro (HOU). Meeting w/ his agent expected Wednesday.

This makes sense, as catcher was one of the weakest positions for the Twins in 2016. The trio of John Ryan Murphy, Kurt Suzuki, and Juan Centeno combined for a -1.5 bWAR, which ranked 24th in MLB.
At the plate, Castro has regressed mightily since his All-Star 2013 season where he hit .276/.350/.485 with 18 home runs.
2014 OPS: .651
2015 OPS: .648
2016 OPS: .684
He had been the regular catcher, but was moved to a platoon/bench role later in the year. Perhaps the Twins could platoon him, as last year he hit .757/.448 OPS in the RHP/LHP split.
The other thing Castro is noted for is pitch framing, which is something Twins pitchers could use.
What do you guys think?
