Twins putting foot down on Brian Dozier deal

“We’re done dicking around,” the Twins are more or less telling interested clubs in an attempt to force action.

Tired of all these Brian Dozier trade rumors with no real action? Well apparently, so are the Twins.

According to a report published today by LaVelle E. Neal the III (aka LEN3), the Twins are telling possible Dozier suitors to poop now or get off the pot. They expect to see final offers presented in the next few days, and if they don’t like any of them, they’re taking their ball and going home.

The Dodgers have always seemed to be the most interested team, and reportedly offered stud pitching prospect Jose De Leon in a possible deal. The problem is that is all they are offering: Dozier for De Leon, straight up. The Twins have been insisting on another prospect in addition to De Leon, but the Dodgers aren’t budging.

It was recently reported that the Cardinals had interest in a deal, but it appears they aren’t actually serious. In fact, the Twins may have been trying to overstate the Cardinals’ interest to get the Dodgers to add that extra prospect—which, in my honest opinion, sounds like a pretty amateur negotiation move at this point, especially considering how obvious it is to everyone else. Heck, same could probably be said about this whole deadline report too.

While we’re at it, Giants, Nationals, and Braves reported interest in Dozier also seems overstated. If those teams were truly interested, wouldn’t we have heard or seen more by now?

If you ask me, it looks like Dozier will remain a Twin for 2017.

Meh, it could be worse.
