The Twins have placed Trevor Plouffe, who has been day-to-day with an intercostal strain (that's like a ribcage muscle), on the 15-day DL. Plouffe was removed from Sunday's game due to the injury.

The Twins are calling up shortstop Jorge Polanco from AAA Rochester to take Plouffe's place.

Miguel Sano took grounders at third base before the game on Monday, but Paul Molitor downplayed the chances of Sano moving in from right field and called it, "more of an emergency measure." Molly likely does not want to interrupt Sano's progress in learning his new position in the outfield, but we may see Sano at third out of necessity.
