Well, the Timberwolves beat the Warriors last night. The Wild are in the playoffs. The Vikings aren't in the news for bad reasons. Now it's time for the Twins to do something positive.

Kyle Gibson takes the mound for the Twins after finishing last season with encouraging numbers, including ramping up his strikeout rate as the year went on. Meanwhile, Gallardo is making his Orioles debut tonight after spending last season with the Rangers, his first in the American League. Gallardo has been trending in the opposite direction as his strikeout rate has fallen for three consecutive years. His velocity has also fallen to hover around 90 MPH, and as a result he's evolved into more of a groundball pitcher than when he was at his peak with the Milwaukee Brewers. As for the lineups, both teams are using the same orders from two days ago.

We should see lots of grounders induced by the two pitchers today. Lots of defensive shifts coming into play. Plenty of mentions that it's Bert Blyleven's birthday, Oh, and it's my birthday too!
