Tyler Duffey spun a gem today, tossing seven shutout innings en route to a win. (7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6K)
The offense got him runs early in the second inning off of Trevor Bauer. With two outs, an Eddie Rosario single scored Byung Ho Park from 3rd, and Juan Centeno doubled to plate Eddie and make the score 2-0 Twins.
That turned out to be all the Twins would need today as the pitching was able to hold the Indians to just one run, a solo homer off the bat of Jason Kipnis in the 8th inning (Trevor May pitching).
The Twins were able to add some insurance runs in the game, though. In the 5th, Jorge Polanco banged his first career home run, a solo shot to center, pushing the Twin lead to 3. Two more runs came in the 9th, on a Rosario double that scored Park and Centeno.
After some 2-out 9th inning antics, Kevin Jepsen was able to close the door, and the Twins came out on top 5-1.
