Royals 10, Twins 4: I can't stand the pain

Joe Mauer hit a home run in the first inning, but not even that is enough anymore.

God help us.
God help us.
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

It only took about eight minutes after first first tonight for the Twins to start losing, and sadly, that was actually an improvement over yesterday's game. Oh, and yeah, the Twins still lost. Duh.

Sound track for tonight's game recap:

The Royals scored first, as mentioned, quite quickly in the top of the first thanks to a pair of doubles from Alcides Escobar and Lorenzo Cain. Being down 1-0 made it seem like the Twins were just doomed, until Joe Mauer, our hometown boy, blasted a solo home run (god forbid anyone be on base for Mauer) to tie the game. Then Robbie Grossman drove in Byung Ho Park to put the Twins in the lead 2-1.

Unfortunately, that was pretty much the high-point of the game.

The Royals continued to pick away at the Twins piranha style, with singles, sac flies, and the like. It was not pretty. The Twins were able to get two more runs in there in the bottom of the sixth and eighth, but frankly, they couldn't even out piranha the Royals. It's that sad.

STUDS!

  • Joe Mauer: 3-for-5, 1 homerun.
  • Fernando Abad: 1 inning pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 strikeouts. (Don't say it don't say it don't say it) not abad (damn it!)

duds

  • Eduardo Nunez: 0-for-5, 1 strikeout.

ROLL CALL!

CAM BOT! GYPSY! TOM SERVO! CRROOOOWWW (I'm different!)!
