Kansas City struck early with a 2-run HR off the bat of Salvador Perez, and proceeded to pile on over the next few innings. Ervin Santana couldn't keep the Royals off the basepaths, giving up 6 runs before being pulled in the 4th. The Twins did manage to score 4 of their own thanks to some Royal's Fielding™ miscues and good days at the plate by Oswaldo Arcia and Eduardo Escobar, coming within two runs of tying the game in the 5th. The Royals would score again in the 6th because they hate our happiness.
In the bottom of the 9th, an Escobar double, followed by back-to-back walks for Brian Dozier (Who had a really good plate appearance if you want something to be positive about) and Danny Santana loaded the bases, bringing the winning run to the plate with no outs.
And then the Twins remembered they were the Twins. Eduardo Nunez and Joe Mauer both struck out swinging and Miguel Sano capped off a miserable performance that might just see him demoted with a line out to center.
I guess it is improvement!
Ervin Santana (now 1-3) picked up the loss, while Edinson Volquez (5-4) got the win. Wade Davis secured himself his 12th save despite not pitching particularly well.
Oswaldo Arcia: 2 for 3 with 2 runs and a 2B.
Eduardo Escobar: 3 for 4 with a RBI and a 2B.
Miguel Sano: 0 for 5 with 3 Ks. :-(

My Pick: "POOP is Perfect" - SooFoo Fan (Funny in-context. Even funnier out of it.)
Community Pick: This exchange between less cowbell, more 'neau and imakesandwichesforaliving (the long name duo):
-"White Sox have hit 100 more runs than the Twins this year"
Pick the Stick Winner!:
James Fillmore got a whopping 5 points with the classic dual Eduardo pick.
