AAA: Charlotte Knights 4, Rochester Red Wings 3

Despite another strong outing from SP Tommy Milone, who gave up only four hits and one earned run over 7.2 innings, the Red Wings fell victim to a 9th inning rally and lost the game. RP Alex Wimmers got only one out in the 9th before giving up two runs and being pulled. He took the blown save and loss.

On the brighter, CF Byron Buxton extended his hitting streak to seven games with a ground rule double in the 1st inning. He later scored on a sac fly from 1B Kennys Vargas. Buxton went 2-for-4 on the night with one double and one run scored.

In the bottom of the 7th, with the Knight up 2-1, the Red Wings loaded the bases for RF Eddie Rosario, who delivered with a two run RBI single to put the Wings ahead 3-2.

As mentioned earlier, however, Wimmers gave up two runs in the 9th inning to eventually lose the game.

AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 3, Tennessee Smokies 2

3B Travis Harrison, who hit the walk-off single in last night's game, drove in all three runs in the Lookouts' 3-2 victory over the Smokies. Harrison hit an RBI single in the 3rd inning to drive in LF Zach Granite, and bonked a 2 RBI double with the bases loaded in the 7th.

SP Aaron Slegers had a nice little outing, pitching 6 innings while surrendering only two earned runs on six hits and striking out six.

High A: Charlotte Stone Crabs 9, Ft. Myers Miracle 2

This was actually a fairly close game up until the bottom of the 8th inning when the Stone Crabs erupted to score six runs. Those runs came courtesy of Miracle RP Todd Van Steensel. Van Steensel pitched a perfect 7th inning, but things fell apart in the 8th when the Crabs scored six runs off six hits, including a three run home run by Crab 3B Grant Kay.

Interestingly, the Stone Crabs DH is named Thomas Milone. Huh.

Low A: Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2, Cedar Rapids Kernels 1

SP Miles Nordgren pitched 7 innings with a career-high 12 strikeouts (!), but the Kernels ended up losing the game in the bottom of 11th inning.

The Timber Rattlers were up 1-0 going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Kernels 1B J.J. Fernandez lead off with a double and was lifted for pinch runner Alex Perez. Perez advanced to third on a ground out by RF Brad Hartong, and scored to tie the game on a sacrifice fly by SS Jermaine Palacios.

RP C.K. Irby came in to pitch the top of the 11th, and surrendered what would be the winning run on a sacrifice fly to Timber Rattlers LF Luis Aviles.
