AAA: Buffalo Bisons 9, Rochester Red Wings 6
Everyone's favorite pitcher who should have been surnamed "Slowey," Andrew Albers, got roughed up a little yesterday, allowing six runs (four earned) in 5.2 frames. Kennys Vargas had a two-out, bases juiced double for Rochester's best rally. And Alexi Casilla plays for the Bisons! Still livin' the dream, AC.
I wonder if they have a cool rivalry when these teams play, given that they're both from western New York. Like the "Niagara Barrel" trophy or something. Probably not.
AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 15, Jacksonville Suns 1
All RF Daniel Palka does is hit dingers, and he added two more in the blowout victory. (You'd think the Twins would have one of these by now, but you'd be wrong.) 21-year old 2013 first-rounder Kohl Stewart went six strong, with five Ks, no BBs, and no runs. Palka was born in South Carolina and went to college in Georgia, so if he ever makes it to the Twins someone will have to explain to him what "pop" means.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle @ Daytona Tortugas CANCELED
Tropical Storm Colin's projected stats resulted in it being sent down to a "Tropical Depression."
Low A: Kane County Cougars 2, Cedar Rapids Kernels NILCH
The Kernels got shucked by Diamonbacks pitching farmhand Joel Payamps. He struck out eight and allowed only four hits in six innings, including two by 2B Luis Arraez (the unofficial #31 Twins prospect, according to your votes.) Cedar Rapids P Miles Nordgren took the loss despite a good six frames of his own, and CF LaMonte Wade upped his defensive assist total to five on the year. Nordgren gets the unofficial title of "name most suited for your tractor-driving great uncle in Glenwood."
