AAA: Rochester Red Wings 4, Columbus

1B Kennys Vargas hit a grand slam in the bottom of the third, and it turned out to be all the Red Wings would need to win. Overall, Vargas went 3-for-4 on the night and also had a double. He's been doing really well lately, but unfortunately, the Twins kind of have enough first basemen for now.

SP Andrew Albers allowed 8 hits over his 5.1 innings pitched, but limited the damage to one run. RP Sean Burnett and RP Alex Wimmers came in to finish the game and both had perfect outings.

AA: Montgomery Biscuits 4, Chattanooga Lookouts 2

The Lookouts hitters were baffled by Biscuits SP Chris Kirsch, mustering only three hits against him in 6 innings. The most exciting on those hits was a triple by 2B Levi Michael.

Unfortunately, Lookouts SP D.J. Baxendale wasn’t so baffling to the Biscuits, who got nine hits off him and knocked him out of the game after only 3 innings.

RF Daniel Palka went 0-for-3.

High A: Ft. Myers Miracle 4, Lakeland Flying Tigers 2

The Miracle bats came alive yesterday with 12 hits to support a dominant start by SP Felix Jorge. Jorge surrendered one one run on six hits over 7.2 innings, bringing his season ERA down to 1.59. He also struck out six and walked no one.

The offense as noted, was alive. 3B T.J. White hit a solo shot to left-center in the 7th inning, while DH Alex Real, 2B Alex Perez, and SS Nick “My Name’s Not Alex” Gordon each had a double.

Low A: Cedar Rapids 2. Burlington Bees 1

This game remained 0-0 all the way until the top of 8th inning when Bees C Tanner Lubach hit a solo home run off RP Sam Gibbons.

Luckily, the Kernels weren’t dead yet. SS Sean Miller reached on a two-base error (these seem common in the minors), and later scored on a force attempt by 3B Nelson Molina. LF Daniel Kihle knocked in the go-ahead run in the next at-bat.

Space candidate RP Michael Theofanopoulos came in to get out the last batter of the night and earn the save.
