AAA: Toldeo Mud Hens 2, Rochester Red Wings 0
It was a pitching duel that did not disappoint last night, just unfortunately, Red Wings SP Jose Berrios came out on bottom. Berrios surrendered only one earned run over 6 innings while striking out seven, but that performance wasn’t enough when coupled with SS Wilfredo Tovar booting a ball and a stellar outing by Mud Hens SP Daniel Norris.
On the offensive side, CF Eddie Rosario went 3-for-4 on the night and raised his AAA batting average to .343. 2B Jorge Polanco and C John Ryan Murphy both had doubles, but again, no one was actually able to score, which is kind of important if you want to win baseball games.
AA: Chatanooga Lookouts 8, Montgomery Biscuits 5
SP David Hurlbut did just that, hurling his butt off over six shut-out innings as the Lookouts burnt the Biscuits in Montgomery. RF Daniel Palka did not hit a home run, but he did go 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Hot-hitting CF Zach Granite and DH Mitch Garver also hit doubles in the Lookouts win.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle All-Star Weekend
The Miracle were off yesterday because is All-Star Weekend in the Florida State League. The game is being hosted at the newly-renovated Hammond Stadium later today.
[No Box Score]
Low A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 2, Quad Cities River Bandits 1
2B Luis Arraez has the night’s hero, hitting an RBI double in the top of the 14th inning to knock in what would end up being the winning run in this four hour and seven minute long game. Space candidate RP Michael Theofanopoulos pitched three shut-out innings in relief to earn the win.
