AAA: Rochester Red Wings 5, Toledo Mud Hens 1

Red Wings SP Logan Darnell had another stellar start to earn his league-leading 8th win of the season. Darnell gave up one run on four hits over 7 innings with six strikeouts. RP Marcus Walden and RP J.T. Chargois pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th inning respectively. By the way, Chargois’s AAA ERA is now 0.57.

2B Jorge Polanco and C John Ryan Murphy both had two RBI on the day, with Polanco hitting a double as well.

AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 4, Montgomery Biscuits 2

The Lookouts turned it up for 11 hits to beat the Biscuits on Saturday. RF Daniel Palka went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and one RBI, but he did not hit a home run. 3B Engelb Vielma also went 3-for-5 with three runs scored.

The Lookouts scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 5th on a very Twins-y play. With the Biscuits ahead 2-1, Lookouts LF Travis Harrison hit a RBI single to tie the game and then got trapped in a rundown which allowed 3B Engelb Vielma to score. That turned out to be the winning run. Talk about burning your own biscuits!

Also, according to this box score, 2B Levi Michael went 0-for-3 with no walks, but also got two stolen bases. So if you’re wondering about the Biscuits’ defense...

High A: FSL North 1, FSL South 0

It is All-Star Weekend for the Florida State League, with the game taking place at our very own Hammond Stadium yesterday! SS Nick Gordon and seven other players from the Ft. Myers Miracle were on the FSL South roster. Too bad they lost!

Miracle pitchers Felix Jorge, Stephen Gonsalves, Tyler Jay and Todd Van Stennsel each pitched one scoreless inning. Nick Gordon went 1-for-1 with a walk. Edgar Corcino went 1-for-4 and Trey Vavra was 0-for-2.

Lakeland Flying Tiger Christin Stewart was named MVP of the game, scoring the only run.

Low A: Quad Cities River Bandits 3, Cedar Rapids Kernels 2

Kernels SP Dereck Rodriguez, son of Pudge, just cannot catch a break. He had a great outing, giving up one earned run over 6 innings with eight (!) strikeouts, but the bats weren’t there to support his cause. The Kernels lineup has brought dishonor to the Rodriguez household.

The Bandits did try to give this one away, though. A two-out error in the top of the 8th inning allowed Lookouts 2B Sean Miller to score and tie the game at 2-2. Alas, the tie was short lived, as Lookouts RP Cam Booser loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning and allowed the winning run on a sac fly by Bandits 3B Conner Goedert.
