Game LIII: Rays at Twins

The very resistible Tampa Bay Rays force meet the very movable Minnesota Twins object, something's gotta not give.

Matt Moore and the 22-29 Tampa Bay Rays (nee Devil Rays) come to Target Field in hopes of turning around their four game losing streak. While the Twins (15-37) return for a 10-game home stand after getting swept in Oakland.

Matthew "Matty Matty Matt Matt" Moore (LHP, 2-3, 5.31 ERA) went 6.2 IP against the hated yanquis getting his second W of the season however he gave up 3 runs and 8 hits and was the first time he's gone past 5 innings in his previous 5 starts. Moore is also reportedly prone to giving up home runs, luckily for him he is facing the Twins. Twins batters, who haven't faced Moore since 2013 , currently rank 12th in strikeouts, 13th in BA (.238), and last in runs scored in the AL.

Kyle "Giblet Gravy" Gibson (RHP, 0-3, 6.10 ERA) is making his first start after a month long rehab stint in Ft. Myers for a strained shoulder. Gibson is 0-4 with an 8.85 ERA vs the Rays. Evan Longoria, Brad Miller, and Desmond Jennings have combined for 12 hits in 28 AB on him. Phil "'Em Up" Hughes (RHP, 1-7, 5.74 ERA) gets the call after Gibson's SNAFU. Hopefully Phil, who has been nursing a strained shoulder of his own, does well and can keep his spot on the rotation. Hughes is prone to giving up home runs, luckily for him and the Twins, the Rays batters are currently ranking 12th in BA (.239), 13th in runs scored, and 14th in strikeouts in the AL.

Bottom line: Twins pitchers have most wild pitches while the Rays batters have most hit by pitches this season. Edge: Rays.

In 2007, Tampa Bay dropped "Devil" from their name because some groups were offended, what would've been a better name than just "Rays?"
