AAA: Louisville Bats 3, Rochester Red Wings 2
Despite a valiant effort from SP Andrew Albers, the Red Wings lost to the Bats yesterday. Albers pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three earned runs and two walks.
On the offensive side, 1B Kennys Vargas did what he likes to do, mashing a solo tater in the 5th inning. That was cool.
3B Miguel Sano, on rehab assignment, when 0-for-3 with one walk.
AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 5, Jackson Generals 3
SP Steven Gonsalves earned his first ever AA win, pitching 5 innings while giving up only two earned runs on six hits and four walks. He had six strikeouts as well.
RF Daniel Palka home run status: Yes (18th dinger of the year).
High A: St, Myers Miracle 4, Jupiter Hammerheads 1
It was a really strong start for SP Keaton Steele, who went 6 innings giving up only one earned run (a home run) on three hits and two walks.
The Miracle got off to an early lead, with CF Edgar Corcino hitting an RBI triple and LF Trey Vavra hitting and RBI single in the 2nd inning. Top prospect SS Nick Gordon drove in another run in the 3rd inning. 2B Alex Perez got the 4th RBI in the 7th inning.
Low A: Beloit Snappers 12, Cedar Rapids Kernels 1
Um, not a good night for Kernels SP Cody Stashak.
Let’s leave it at that.
Rookie: Elizabethton Twins 5, Kingsport Mets 1
The baby Twins continue to be absolutely adorable. CF Jaylin Davis hit a home run and 1B Amaurys Minier went 3-for-5 with four RBI.
I’m loving these names.
