Twins select OF Alex Kirilloff in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft

The Twins will add another toolsy outfielder to their minor league ranks.

The Twins first round pick (#15) in the 2016 MLB Draft is the outfielder from New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He was on my list of potential draft targets for the Twins I wrote earlier this week. Kirilloff projects to be a 20+ HR a year guy someday. His biggest weakness is his speed, but he makes up for it with an arm that grades in the 55-60 range on the 20-80 scouting scale. If he loses too much speed as he matures, he could move to first base. Judging from this, he seems to be a future corner outfielder.

I personally like this pick, I think he provides a future power bat in the outfield, something we don't really have a ton of right now.

Here is John Sickels' write up on Alex Kirilloff.

Of note, his dad is a hitting coach, and has videos on YouTube.

What do you think of this pick? Were you hoping for someone else?

We'll have more coverage of the Twins picks in the 2016 MLB Draft as it happens, so stay tuned!
