Series Preview: Twins at Tigers

They're good.

After losing the opening second half series to the Indians, the Twins will go to Detroit for a 3 game series. Here's what Detroit's been up to:

The Tigers just got done winning a series against the Royals, and their record sits at 48-44. JD Martinez is currently on the 15-day DL so their best active hitter by OPS is Miguel Cabrera (~.876). Their lineup consists of six different guys with OPS > .800, which is pretty remarkable (the Twins have about three of those).

On the pitching side of things, no starter is really setting the world on fire, except for Michael Fulmer (9-2, 2.11 ERA, 8.5 K/9). The others aren't bad, just not amazing. Their real strength with pitching is the bullpen, which is led by the Wilsons (Alex and Justin), and Francisco Rodriguez.

They'll be looking to gain ground in the wild card race as we head into August (2.5 GB, as of this writing). They appear to be more than talented enough, but hey, so did the Twins.
