AAA: Rochester Red Wings 5, Syracuse Chiefs 3
The Red Wings came from behind to score three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, which turned out to be the game decider. SP Jason Wheeler had a bit of a rocky start, giving up a run in the top of the first and two more over his 5.3 innings pitched, but the bullpen was stellar, with RP D.J. Baxendale, RP Ryan O'Rourke, RP Trevor May, and RP Alex Wimmers combining for 3.1 nearly perfect innings.
At the plate, CF Eddie Rosario continues to stay hot, going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. RF Darin Mastroianni, playing in the first game of his rehab assignment, went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
AA: Pensacola Blue Wahoos 10, Chattanooga Lookouts 8
1B Daniel Palka did not hit a home run, but C Mitch Garver and LF Travis Harrison did! Alas, it was not enough for a win.
It was a really rough start for Lookouts SP Stephen Gonsalves. Gonslaves only lasted 3.2 innings and gave up six earned runs, including a three-run blast to Blue Wahoos C Joe Hudson. To his credit, Gonslaves did strike out eight.
CF Niko Goodrum, in his first game back in AA, went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle 7, Jupiter Hammerheads 2
CF Max Murphy and 3B T.J. White both hit home runs and doubles as the Miracle hammered the Hammerheads at Hammond Stadium. The Miracle was not short on doubles for the evening with, in addition to Murphy and White, C A.J. Murray, 2B Alex Perez, RF Edgar Corcino, and LF LaMonte Wade all going two.
SP Randy Rosario started for the Miracle and went 5.2 innings. He gave up two earned runs on fives hits and four walks. He struck out five.
Low A: Beloit Snappers 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 4
It was a close game in Beloit with the Kernels leading 4-3 going into the bottom of the 8th, but the Snappers were able to rally for two runs and the win. Kernels RP Tom Hackimer, who pitched the 7th inning and started but could not finish the 8th, earned the blown save and the loss.
2B Sean Miller was an offensive standout for the Kernels, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored.
Rookie: Elizabethton Twins 8, Pulaski Yankees 3
It was batting practice for the baby Twins yesterday, most notably with 2016 first round draft pick RF Alex Kirilloff hitting his first professional home run and CF Jaylin Davis hitting two bombs. 1B Amaurys Minier also had a dinger.
And the baby Twins seem to be learning quickly, as there were no errors! Yay!
