Once again it's a big start for Ervin Santana as his tenure with the Twins might be winding down. Though his 3-8 record doesn't look good on the surface, he's been perfectly serviceable with a 4.12 ERA and 3.97 FIP. He even has been giving up a reasonable number of home runs, something that has been his downfall for a long time.

Facing him will be longtime Tiger starter Justin Verlander who isn't the dominant starter that he was five years ago but still gets the job done. After watching his strikeout rate fall off the table the past two seasons, he's found a resurgence which has helped counter his increase in home runs allowed this year.

The Twins are sticking with their standard lineup while the Tigers are giving shortstop Jose Iglesias a day off and Tyler Collins is tasked with manning right field as J.D. Martinez is on the disabled list.
