AAA: Rochester Red Wings 3, Syracuse Chiefs 1

The Chiefs scored the first run in the top of the first, but that’s all they would get off SP Jose Berrios, who pulled a Radke, pitching seven more shut out innings after that. Berrios finished the night giving up just the one run on six hits with nine strikeouts.

DH Byung Ho Park tied the game up with a solo shot, his fourth in triple-a, in the 5th inning. 3B Tommy Field hit a two-run home run a couple innings later to round out the scoring for the Red Wings.

AA: Jackson Generals 3, Chattanooga Lookouts 2

Lookouts SP Omar Bencomo gave up a three run home run to Generals RF Tyler O'Neill in the 3rd inning, which was enough for the loss in this one. Overall, Bencomo lasted 5 innings and gave up one walk and six hits, including the blast.

The Lookouts got two back in the top of the 4th inning. With the bases loaded, SS Leonardo Reginatto hit a sacrifice fly to score LF Ryan Walker. 3B Niko Goodrum followed up with an RBI single to score DH Mitch Garver. But that was it for scoring, which was not enough.

High A: Clearwater Threshers 5, Ft. Myers Miracle 0

This game was cut short by rain, lasting only 6 innings, but that was probably a good thing for the Miracle. A miracle, if you will.

SP Sam Clay pitched all 6 innings, but only two of the runs given up were earned. A throwing error by 3B T.J. White in the 2nd inning led to the first run of the game for the Threshers. In the 3rd inning, Clay threw the ball away in a botched pick-off attempt that led to another “unearned”run. White then committed another error leading to the third unearned run of the game.

The Miracle bats sucked as bad as the defense.

Low A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 8, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2

LF Jaylin Davis crushed a three-run home run as part of a five-run 5th inning that helped lead the Kernels over the Hot Rods 8-2. Davis also had a double in the contest, ending the day 2-for-4 with the three RBI and one run scored.

SP Sam Gibbons started the game for the Kernels, and he was good. He lasted 7 innings and gave up only two earned runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out two.

Rookie: Elizabethton Twins 12, Johnson City Cardinals 8

Twins SP Alex Schick sucked, but luckily not as bad as the baby Cardinals’ defense. The Twins scored four unearned runs off the Cardinals in the game, which, as you can see, ended up being the difference maker.

The Twins had 15 hits in the game total. RF Roberto Gonzalez had the biggest hit of the bunch, a two-run dong in the 3rd inning. DH Lewin Diaz and CF Alex Kirilloff both hit solo dongs as well. SS Brandon Lopez went 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and three runs scored.

As for errors: Lopez committed a fielding error, while 1B Amaurys Minier committed a throwing error.
