It was a quick and boring ballgame tonight at Target Field. Ervin Santana went all 9 innings for the Twins, in what would be a tough-luck loss for the righty. Braves 3B Adonis Garcia homered to left in the 2nd. In the 3rd, an AJ Pierzynksi double followed by a Eric Aybar single would set the Braves up for their second run. Jace Peterson grounded into a double play, which is never what you want to do. Luckily for him, in this instance it allowed a run to score anyway and he got a nice RBI to put on the back of his baseball card.
Santana didn't make much for mistakes afterwords, but the offense never figured things out. On the night, the Twins went an abysmal 0-11 with runners in scoring position, maximizing the sadness of their loyal fanbase.
Lucas Harrell would nab the win after six shut out innings of work. Jim Johnson would hold the Twins in the 9th for his 3rd save of the year. Apparently his full name is James Robert Johnson which makes him the most boringly named man on earth. Congratulations Jim Rob John.
Atlanta may have won the day but Minnesota is still ahead by a few games in the Not-be-the-worst race. Hold your heads high, gang.
STUDS:
Ervin Santana: 9 IP, 2 ER, 5 SO. (I had to make someone a stud.)
DUDS:
Pretty much the rest of the team, but especially
Miguel Sano: 0-4 with 3 strikeouts. Better luck tomorrow.
Quote of the Gamethread: I'm not sure anyone rec'd anything. Stop being so stingy, darnit.
