A chorus of errors didn’t stop the Twins today, as they held on to their collective..hats to get a series win.
Ervin Santana pitched well today, going 6 and giving up 3 runs, but only 1 of them were earned. Like I said, a chorus of errors.
The Twins got things off to a good start in the first. The highlight being a 2 run blast over the left center field wall by big Kennys Vargas. A genius made the following tweet:
Vargas is king of the 2's. 2-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, and a 2 run homer. #MNTwins— SooFoo Fan (@SooFoo_Fan) July 31, 2016
Before that, Brian Dozier doubled and Robbie Grossman drove him in for the first run of the game.
The White Sox pushed across a run in the 3rd on a Melky Cabrera single, but the Twins answered back via a Jorge Polanco double, scoring big Vargas from 1st. Both runs were scored right before the 3rd out in the inning via an OF assist. Monkey see, monkey do.
The Sox weren’t quite done yet, though. With the help of a Miguel Sano throwing error, they scored 2 more runs in the 4th, making it a 4-3 game.
Dozier answered those two runs with two home runs, solo shots in the 5th and the 7th to push the lead back to 3 at 6-3.
The Sox got another run in the 8th, on another error (Polanco), but were contained to just that one run. One last rally in the 9th saw Justin Morneau come to the plate as the tying run, but he struck out swinging to end the game.
