Okay campers, rise 'n shine and don't forget your boots because it's time to poke some more cows, this time in Texas! YEE-HAW!!
I haven't paid too much attention to the Twins schedule this year so this series was a surprise to me. "What the Hell? Didn't we just play the [expletive] Rangers?" Turns out, we did. I looked at the pitching match up, Tyler "Duffman" Duffey (RHP, 4-6, 5.62 ERA) vs Alexander "Chi Chi" Gonzalez (RHP, 0-1, 9.52 ERA). "Didn't we do that one too?" Yep! And we won to the tune of 17-5. So there's your preview, just read James Fillmore's recap from less than a week ago. The only differences are the game is being played in the "Lone Star" state instead of the "L'Etoile du Nord," and it's almost 20 degrees hotter.
Reading James's game thread write up about the connection between "Chi Chi" Gonzalez and "Chi Chi" Rodriguez I was reminded of something that only I would find very interesting. Since this is the part of the game thread no one reads anyway, I'll tell you what it is. The cover of Devo's "Are We Not Men?" was originally supposed to be "Chi Chi" Rodriguez after a band member saw his stylized picture on a tag of a golf strap. Click on the links if you want to see them, both are copyrighted so I can't post the pics here.
What does this stupid crap have to do with the game, cowbell godammit! They originally couldn't get permission to use the golf tag pic so they made their own version using morphed pictures of four US Presidents including JFK (killed in Texas), and LBJ (born in Texas), another US Prez, George "Dubya" Bush, was born in Connecticut but owned a share of the Texas Rangers from 1989-1998. So there you go, it's always something.
Here's a video of Devo in Paris, France not to be confused with Paris, Texas which is about two hours away from Arlington, Texas:
