The Twins placed Trevor May on the 15-day DL today with a lower back strain and recalled relief pitcher J.T. Chargois (pronounced “shag-wah”), who was apparently in AAA.

If you haven’t been watching the Twins like a hawk this season, first, good for you, and second, you may have missed Chargois’s major league debut back in June. Chargois was called up, made one appearance, and was sent almost immediately back down. In that one appearance, Chargois lasted 0.2 innings and gave up five earned runs, so now he’ll finally get the chance to work on that 67.50 ERA.

In AAA, however, Chargois has been lights out, posting a 1.29 ERA over 35 innings pitched. He last pitched for the Red Wings on Saturday, giving up one earned run on two hits in his 1 inning of work.

Trevor May missed 23 games earlier this season with back-spasms. It’s unknown how serious his current injury is or if it’s connected to his previous back problems.
