Berrios Buried, Boshers Bashed by 'Stros 15-7

It didn't rain Astros runs, but it poured.

I'm kind of glad there was no TV for this one. Jose Berrios had a berry very bad outing. He gave up two runs in the 1st and another four in the 2nd. After giving up a single and a walk in the 3rd, his day was done. I was really hoping "La MaKina ("The Machine" in Spanish but spelled with a "K" instead of "maquina") didn't mean a pitching machine. Berrios gave up eight hits in all, with three ER and a walk while striking out one.

Kennys Vargas hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 2nd to put the Twins on the board.

Max Kepler doubled in Juan Centeno and Robbie Grossman in the 3rd to make it a close game with the Twins down 6-3.

Buddy Boshers came in in the 5th and gave up another six runs, including loading up the bases and hitting George Springer for an RBI and a 3-run homer by Carlos Correa. Astros 12, Twins 3 at that point

Twins still had a little fight in them and Kepler hit a sac fly to right field to score Brian Dozier and Kennys Vargas stroked his second dong of the game with Joe Mauer on to make it 12-6.

Taylor Rogers came in to throw a little gasoline on the raging dumpster fire. He walked the first two batters he faced and then threw a wild pitch that scored a run. Another two Astros runs would score on an RBI single.

Eduardo Escobar, the Twins utility SS and emergency catcher, got a new job title to add to his resume: relief pitcher. After giving up a single he managed to induce the next three batters to fly out, although a diving catch by Kepler helped. He threw a 90 mph 4-seamer and also has a cutter and a curve ball in his repertoire.

Dozier hit an RBI double to make it 15-7 Astros and mercifully the game ended.
