AAA: Rochester Red Wings 5, Syracuse Chiefs 3
DH Daniel Palka hit a home run in the 1st inning, his seventh in AAA, and helped lead the Red Wings to ultimate victory.
After Palka’s 1st inning bomb, no runs were scored until the top of the 7th inning, when Red Wings RF Logan Schafer hit his own solo shot. The Chiefs, however, got two runs off Red Wings SP Nick Greenwood in the bottom of that inning to tie things up. Luckily, that did not last long.
CF Byron Buxton led off the 8th inning with a single and eventually scored on a Reynaldo Rodriguez RBI ground-out. In the 9th, recent Lookouts call-up C Mitch Garver hit an RBI double and scored on an RBI single hit by also recent Lookouts call-up 3B Leonardo Reginatto.
AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 7, Birmingham Barons 1
This was Lookouts SP Stephen Gonsalves’s game. Gonsalves threw 9 shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a beyond impressive outing. I mean, holy cow.
Okay, I lied, there was one run against Gonslaves—but it was unearned.
The Lookouts offensive did not disappoint either. C Stuart Turner went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and RF Edgar Corcino went 2-for-4 with a triple, and RBI, and a run scored.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle 1, Charolette Stone Crabs 0
The Miracle scored the only run of the game on an RBI double-play, which is hilarious. Those runs came courtesy of a fielding error by Crabs RF Gerard Hernandez. Thank you,Hernandez!
SP Cody Stashak started for the Miracle, pitching 7 shut-out innings. He gave up only four hits and one walk, while striking out one.
Low A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 2, Kane County Cougars 0
The Kernels scored two unearned-runs in the 2nd inning, which ended up being the only scoring in the game. I feel like this is a damn theme..
SP Eduardo Del Rosario was strong for the Kernels, lasting 5 shut-out innings and striking out an awesome eight batters.
Rookie: Elizabethton Twins 5, Kingsport Mets 2
DH Mitchell Kranson hit a two-run home run in this baby Twins victory. LF Shane Carrier also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
The pitching end of the things? they were good. SP Alex Schick gave up only one earned run over 6 innings. That’s good, right?
