Game CXVII: Royals @ Twins

Let's see if Duff Man can put up enough innings for the Twins to stop flying relievers willy-nilly from Rochester.

Do you like peripheral pitching stats? The Vegas oddsmakers (or, to be more precise, their bettors) sure do. Look at the stats below. You will notice very similar hit, strikeout, and home run numbers. Twins starter Tyler Duffey is getting hit much more than Kansas City's Dillon Gee, although he walks fewer batters and has "unlucky" BAbip. So, Duffey SHOULD be doing better -- believe it, or not. Digits:

ERA H/9 K/9 BB/9 HR/9 OPS v L/R BAbip FIP
Duff Man 5.93
11.2
7.4
2.1
1.6
.764/.955
.341
4.61
Dillon Gee 4.54
10.6

5.14

Gee, a Met up until this year, is unusual in that he mixes in all four pitches and while none is particularly good (he barely reaches 90), none is really bad, either. Usually a guy has a real clunker pitch he just heaves in there every now and then for a different look; not "Wendell" Gee. Duffey you know; he throws his curve 38.5% of the time, and if it's good, so is he. If not? Trouble with a capital "T", and that rhymes with "D", and that stands for "D'OH!"

Lineups. Note the presence of Kurt Suzuki, despite the Twins exposing him to waivers today (thanks for the heads up, cowbell). Perhaps there's a trade afoot. In any case, teams have until noon tomorrow to claim him; any team doing so has 48 hours to make a deal, or the Twins can pull Suzuki back from waivers. If no team makes a claim, the Twins can keep Kurt or move him to a prospective buyer.
