Duffman Does Kauffman: Refrain on the Plains

Know Thine Enemy: Royals Review

The Twins Tyler Duffey (RHP, 8-8, 5.71 ERA) going against the Royals Dillon Gee (RHP, 4-6, 4.78 ERA) again. Seems like it was just a few games we did this match up. It was actually Game 117, four games ago. My, where has the time flown? I think this is the third time this season I've done a rematch gamethread. I'm worried the Twins schedule is in a rut. Maybe it's time to take a break, see some other teams and pitchers, get a fresh perspective on things and in a month or two see how we feel about this whole... "schedule" thing. It's not you, Twins schedule, it's me.
Last time out, the Twins won 3-5. You can read James Fillmore's (nee twinsbrewer) recap di tutti capi here. The upshot was Duffey pitched seven solid innings and keeping the Royals to two runs, while Twins' batters had 11 hits, including three homers off of Gee over 5.1 innings.

Since then, the Royals swept the Tigers in three games in Detroit. The Royals now sit at 60-60 on the season, have won nine of their last eleven games and are 6.5 games back in the Wild Card chase. They are hoping to take at least three games from the Twins to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Twins can play spoiler here or keep their own playoff dreams going. A bloop, a bunt, a blast, another bunt, and a 17-game winning streak and the Twins (49-71) are right back in the thick of it.

Joe Mauer had a game off to deal with bilateral leg sore quads but is ready to go. Sano is also back in the lineup, but will most likely DH this series as his sore elbow is "not feeling 100% yet" and the Twins are done with the DH-less, Olde Tyme baseball league until they have to play the Mets in mid September for some reason.

DVD Movie Review: All-Stars (2014)

Little league girls softball gets the This is Spinal Tap treatment. Well okay, it's more of a Best in Show or Waiting For Guffman treatment, still good, but not "Spinal Tap" good. All-Stars is a mockumentary that follows an age 10 and under little league girls fast-pitch softball team for a season. If you didn't like the three other films I mentioned, you probably won't care for this one. I thoroughly enjoy this genre though so I liked it.
