AAA: Gwinnett Braves 5, Rochester Red Wings 1
The Red Wings called up SP Omar Bencomoto start the game, since Adalberto Mejia was called up to the Twins, but it didn’t go so well for Bencomoto. He 5.1 innings but gave up all five earned runs for the Red Wings.
The Red Wings scored their only run on a fielder’s choice by LF Adam Brett Walker.
AA: Chattanooga Lookouts 3, Montgomery Biscuits 1
1B T.J. White went 3-for-4 in this game with a triple, a double, and two RBI, burning the Biscuits yet again. SP Ryan Eades also had a marvelous start, pitching 6 shut-out innings with only one hit and one walk.
Yum.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle 7, Jupiter Hammerheads 4
CF Tanner English and DH Joe Maloney both hit solo-home runs in this Miracle victory. Maloney had 4 RBI overall on the day.
SP Sam Clay was shaky in his start for the Miracle, lasting only 4.2 innings and giving up four earned runs.
Low A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 7, Burlington Bees 3
Kernels came back from behind, scoring six runs in the final three innings, to take this one from the Bees. Down 2-1, the Kernels comeback started in the bottom of the 7th with two hit batters and a walk to load the bases for CF Casey Scoggins. Scoggins hit a bloop single to score one run, and then SS Brandon Lopez and 1B Zander Wiel both got bases loaded walks.
The Kernels scored three more in the following inning, thanks to an RBI double by RF J.J. Fernandez and another RBI single by Scoggins.
SP Tyler Beardsley started for the Kernels and lasted 5 innings. He gave up two earned runs on four hits and two walks.
Rookie: Burlington Royals 4, Elizabethton Twins 2
The Baby Twins tried to mount a come back in this one, scoring in the top of the 6th and top of the 8th, but it wasn’t enough. Twins SP Miguel De Jesus gave up three runs on three hits and four walks, which was enough. He did strike out six batters, however.
CF Caleb Hamilton, 1B Lewin Diaz, and DH Roberto Gonzalez each hit doubles.
