Twins option Mejia, call up Light

It’s the “Let’s see what we got at the trade deadline” tour for the Twins.

In case you missed it—because I certainly did—the Twins called up Adalberto Mejia, the left-handed pitcher acquired in the Eduardo Nunez trade late July. Mejia pitched 2.1 innings in the game against the Royals yesterday, giving up two runs. The Twins then immediately optioned him back to AAA. That was faster than they called-up and optioned J.T. Chargois earlier this year (and Chargois is still with the Twins now though, right?)

In place of Mejia, the Twins have called up another trade acquisition—Pat Light. The Twins acquired Pat Light from the Red Sox for reliever Fernando Abad. Light can hit 100 mph with his fastball but has historically struggled with his command. He has a 2.37 ERA over 38 minor league innings pitched this season.

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see who the Twins call-up next!
