Turns out walks really can haunt. You were right, old Metrodome scoreboard graphic.

Scoring started in the top of the 2nd. Jose Berrios gave up a lead-off walk to Justin Upton, who promptly stole second while Berrios didn't pay any attention to him. Max Kepler then made this nice catch. From what I saw on the radio, Upton then scored after Brian Dozier threw the ball into the outfield for an error. Ian Kinsler then doubled to knock in the two runners on base for a 3-0 Tigers' lead.

Top of the 3rd, James McCann (no relation to actor James Caan as far as I can tell) hit a home run to right center field with two on to make it 6-0 Tigers. Also Polanco and Grossman managed to smash into each other in the outfield.

Berrios was pulled after the 5th so Michael Tonkin took over in the 6th. After plunking the lead-off batter and walking the second batter, he gave up a double to Victor Martinez that scored said base freeloaders to make it 8-0 Tigers.

Bottom of the 6th, the Twins finally got on the board when Robbie Grossman hit a 2-out RBI single to score Dozier from second.

Twins scored again in the 7th after Escobar knocked in Miguel Sano from third.

Twins weren't done yet, bottom of the 8th, Jorge Polanco tripled and scored on a sac grounder to second by Grossman. Kepler doubled off the center field wall to knock in two more Twins runs. Then they were done as the Twins went quietly in the 9th.

  • Twins are 0-6 against the Tigers at home this year.
  • Twins losing streak extended to 7 games, fall to 24 GB in the AL Central.
  • Duffey and Berrios optioned to AAA, Albers called back up.
