AAA: Pawtucket Red Sox 3, Rochester Red Wings 1
SP Adalberto Mejia, who the Twins got from the Giants for Eduardo Nunez, made his debut for the Red Wings today. He actually did pretty dang good, giving up only two runs on three hits and three walks over 7 innings of work. He struck-out six.
The Red Wings offense was generally pretty anemic, getting only four hits all game. RF Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a solo dinger in the 5th inning for the only run of the game.
AA: Mobile BayBears 2, Chattanooga Lookouts 1
The Lookouts tied this one up 1-1 in the 8th inning, and the game persisted until the 10th, but it didn’t turn out well for the Lookouts. That’s when BayBear LF Chad Oberacker scored the winning run on a walk-off wild pitch by RP Mason Melotakis. Yeah.
SP Stephen Gonsalves had a strong start though, throwing 6 shut-out innings with eight strike-outs.
High A: Ft. Myers Miracle 5, Bradenton Marauders 4
The Miracle had an early 4-0 lead last night which they eventually blew, but luckily 1B T.J. White was able to drive in the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the 8th inning to save the game.
The early lead for the Miracle was largely due to some sloppy play by the Marauders in the 3rd inning. White started the inning with a fly ball that got by Marauders RF Justin Maffei. SS Nick Gordon drove White in with a single, and scored himself on a Wild Pitch. DH A.J. Murray then drove in the third run of the inning thanks to a bobbled ball.
SP Sam Clay started the game for the Miracle and was a bit rough. He gave up four earned runs on six hits and four walks over 5 innings.
Low A: Clinton LumberKings 3, Cedar Rapids Kernels 2
This game only made it to the top of the 4th innings before it was suspended by rain.
[No Box Score]
Rookie: Elizabethton Twins 5, Johnson City Cardinals 1
RF Alex Kirilloff had himself a nice little game here, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, which accounted for all of the baby Twins’ extra base hits. SP Ryan Mason had a strong start as well, pitching 5 shut-out innings.
In fact, Twins pitchers game up no earned runs in this game. The only earned run was thanks to a fielding error by SS Brandon Lopez
